Megan Fox Is No Longer Hiding

INSTYLE – A new, young audience is eager to get to know the actress, and after a decade of being righteously misunderstood, she is finally ready to let them.

Megan Fox is lying on the floor in front of me showing a group of people just how flexible she is. On command, she contorts herself so that her foot is flat on the ground next to her head. She looks at the photographer who is documenting this moment and relaxes her face into the perfect pout. A second later, I watch as she springs up and walks over to a monitor showing photos to see just how this bizarre position looks. “That’s fucking sick,” she yells, pointing her impossibly long and perfectly manicured fingernail at the screen, “let’s keep trying.” She runs back to the set and lays down on the floor, bringing her leg back so far it looks like her foot belongs to someone else.

The entire day I spent with her on set, she was like this — willing to be playful but serious about the image she was putting out. There was also palpable confidence coming from her that I may have expected from the Megan Fox I watched in movies like Jennifer’s Body or Transformers, but I wasn’t sure what I would get from her now. In the last year, Fox went from a decade of self-imposed hiding to being completely back in the spotlight with two upcoming movies, a fresh divorce, and a new, very public relationship with Colson Baker A.K.A. Machine Gun Kelly.

While we can all recognize some version of what it’s like to emerge from hibernation in the midst of the pandemic, what she is doing right now is something completely different.

Megan Fox is on the cover of April’s issue of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia

Megan Fox knows she’s not America’s Sweetheart—and she’s OK with that.

Rather than feign ignorance, Fox says she’s keenly aware of what critics have said. “I would say most people assume that I’m not very smart or educated or earnest, because I have this image that I’m sort of narcissistic, chasing attention, and wanting people to like me. It makes me laugh because I’ve done plenty of interviews and when you read the article from beginning to end you can see that I’m not your typical music video model,” she tells Harper’s Bazaar Arabia.

Yes, Fox did star in Eminem and Rihanna’s “Love the Way You Lie” music video in 2010—but that’s not the point. “My life is not about seeking other people’s approval because I know it isn’t going to come.” Fox was barely in her twenties when she starred opposite Shia LaBeouf in Transformers. She became as famous for her allure as she did for her bold opinions, and to a degree, both hurt her career. “I think there’s a lot of growing personally that I needed to do, to control my passion. I really wanted to be a mom, and I wasn’t yet, and I really struggled with that,” she says. “I was just too young to see where I wanted to go.”

While she was being marketed as a sex symbol, critics panned Fox’s acting abilities.

“In Transformers I was a kid. I had no idea what I was doing. There was nothing for me to do [in the film], but then I did nothing and that was my own call,” she says of the 2007 flick. “I don’t take it personally because in some ways I acknowledge and agree. But at the same time, both established comedians and Quentin Tarantino have come up to me and said, ‘I really liked Jennifer’s Body. You were really good in that’. The people whose opinions matter liked it, so I’m OK with that.”

Around that same time, she was often praised for her red carpet style. While it might seem flattering to appear on a best-dressed list, for Fox, the experience a bit unnerving. “I’ve never had fun getting dressed up and going on the red carpet because there’s pressure there. You’re not just getting dressed because you think this is an amazing outfit. You’re getting dressed because there’s an obligation from your side to a certain designer and then you have to go and walk the carpet hoping that someone else isn’t wearing something similar,” she tells the magazine. “I’m just sort of the mannequin that they send out, so it’s just not a fun process for me.”

Megan Fox: “I love something so much that I will never be the same again.”

In anticipation of this summer’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live-action movie, we caught up with actress and new mom (again!) Megan Fox. While many may recognize her of Transformers fame, her favorite role is mother of two boys under the age of two. Parents talked with Megan about the challenges and joys of parenthood, her rules about TV (unexpected for an actress!), and what she looks forward to as Noah, almost 2, and Bodhi, 4 months, continue to grow.

P: Now that you’re a mom, how does that affect how you pick your projects?

MF: The main thing it does is it affects how much I’m willing to work. I’ve never been an extraordinarily ambitious girl or career-oriented, but especially once I got pregnant with my first son and now [having] my second, it’s so hard to be a working mom especially when your heart is not in your work, when your heart is with your family. I have to make one movie a year because I have to invest in their future and I have to be able to pay their way through college and be able to provide for them. I’m looking for movies that will shoot in Los Angeles, for projects where I’m part of an ensemble so I can shoot in and out in 10-20 days. It’s all about trying to spend as little time away from my kids as possible.

P: What is it like having two kids under 2? What’s the most enjoyable part and most challenging part?

MF: It’s total chaos obviously. Before you have kids you really do not understand how much work it is and how consuming it is. And then you have one and you’re like, “Oh my God my baby is my whole world.” Every moment of the day is dedicated to this one baby and then all of a sudden you have two babies! Their needs are so different because Noah is nearing 2 and then my newborn is 4 months. It’s really hard to manage because I also don’t let them watch TV. It’s not like I’m going to sit Noah in front of the television so I can take care of Bodhi. I have to figure out how to incorporate Noah into the process and have him help me take care of Bodhi and make sure he doesn’t get jealous and make sure nobody’s neglected and everybody’s needs are being met. As a mom it’s hard because I don’t feel like I’m ever giving either one of them 100% of my attention or 100% of myself, so I carry a lot of guilt. Do they each understand how special they are and how much I love them? And are they understanding that they’re unique? It’s hard to make each one feel like an individual when you have to raise them together and manage them together all of the time. So that’s the most difficult part.

The most amazing part of it aside from being blessed to just continue to have children: Noah’s starting to interact with Bodhi. He’ll try to comfort him sometimes when he cries and he’ll do the “sh sh sh sh” and to watch him do that melts my heart. I’m excited for the future, to see them be brothers and be best friends and I know that there’s gonna be lots of fighting, but there’s also gonna be lots of hugs and kisses. It’s sort of mind-blowing to think about how amazing the future is going to be with them, holidays and birthdays.

Megan Fox talks ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,’ says she’d love a ‘Sailor Moon’ remake

Megan Fox has long claimed to be a self-described “nerd” but has unexpectedly upped the ante when it comes to her fan-girl obsession with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

“I was really in love with them,” confesses Fox, who stars as reporter April O’Neil in the live-action reboot of the ‘80s cartoon which hits theaters August 8. “I have an older sister that’s 12 years older than me, so part of it initially was because I wanted to be like my big sister. But, it’s a really cool project for me because it was a huge part of my childhood, and it’s always been.”

Her die-hard love of the characters – she even made husband Brian Austin Green watch the cheesy Turtle movies with her when they were dating – eliminated any hesitation about her decision to sign up for the film executive produced by Michael Bay.

“He was one of the most lovely people that I dealt with in making this movie,” says Fox of the Transformers director, with whom she had once publicly feuded. “I’ve always loved Michael. We’ve had our battles in the past but even when I’ve been really outspoken about difficulties we’ve had, I’ve always followed up by saying that I have a particular affinity to him. He can be very vulnerable, and he’s very likeable and loveable. I’ve always been very vocal about that as well. But, sometimes we clash because we both have very willful, powerful personalities.”

Brian Austin Green talks about Megan Fox Pregnancy

Brian Austin Green is ready to pull double baby duty! The 40-year-old actor and wife Megan Fox — already parents to son Noah Shannon, 11 months — are expecting another addition, and the former Beverly Hills, 90210 star is doing everything he can to be a supportive husband.

“I do whatever she asks for and I say yes no matter what it may be!” he told Us Weekly at the Generosity Water’s 5th Annual Night of Generosity event in Beverly Hills Friday, Sept. 6. “She’s doing great. She did great the first time around, but I wouldn’t wish the experience on anybody! I couldn’t do it! I couldn’t make a baby, it’s unbelievable!”

Dressed in a black pinstriped suit and skinny tie, Green stepped out for the evening sans his pregnant wife, and admitted they don’t have their hearts set on a boy or a girl. “I’m [just] hoping for a healthy baby,” he said

Green and Fox, 27, have been together since 2004 and married in 2010. They welcomed little Noah in September 2012. With the new baby’s arrival, the couple will juggle two kids under two and Green’s role on the FX sitcom Anger Management. “I have to say, we honestly have no idea and we discuss it daily and think, ‘How are we going to do this?'” he said. “I think we’ll just see when it happens. People do it all the time.”
